Kobe Bryant has touched my life on so many levels. His life well lived has inspired me on a deep level. So many impactful quotes to live by in a uniquely disciplined lifestyle he embodied and embraced. I want to make my life shine ✨ in my own unique gifting and appreciate his dedication and timeless example. 

I want, believe and will achieve and fight to land a vertical slam dunk before I exit stage left. Executing with a purpose and a plan. I want my life to reflect the amazing footsteps of the supernatural life Kobe lived. In life, he lived as a superstar basketball player for the Lakers for decades sometimes walking on the highly polished wood floor of a basketball court like on water. 

I saw him play for the last time before he retired playing in Colorado and being highly appreciated by the crowd.

I visit the resting place and maintain a grave marker weekly of a young man that lost his life at age 21. Kobe shares his resting place next to other lives well lived at Pacific View in Corona Del Mar. It’s an amazing fact that each morning 150,000 people in the world do not wake up. So if you woke up this morning, like I did, we are both extremely blessed! When we pass away, that is our time to rest, but in this short life we must push forward, climb higher and fly through the air with single point focus to slam dunk the best baskets of our life! 

Since the number seven is symbolic in Hebrew of completion, and I thought that I was complete with seven simultaneously launched websites… I must now add my eighth website which is symbolic of renewal.  Guro Dan Inosanto, has been an instructor and an example of a very humble mentor to me. I want to watch and guard the path of my feet and the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart ♥️ For these reasons, and the 8 billion people walking this planet 🌎 A5 Shoe 👟 Shine must carve a path and land with a beautiful vertical slam dunk!

Years ago, I suddenly became known as “The Shoe Shine Sensei”as the original karate kid. In my late 20’s, I used to wash cars after purchasing Newport Detail Co. in 1988. One Early morning at Sutro and Company, a stock broker firm in fashion Island, not far from the waves in Corona Del Mar and Newport Beach, one of the stock brokers said in a fun way…”Throw your keys to the karate kid. He will do a good job for you!” My on the hour early morning ritual of washing cars on Tuesdays starting at 6 AM. ,one after another for stockbrokers. This June 2nd, a 38 year “Wax On” journey still vibrantly continues for me! Sometimes in life, you have to stick both feet 🦶 out of bed and into the water. Waking up at 4 AM and making an hour drive to wash cars with steaming hot water sealed in the tub so that you can give a Porsche a morning bath before the fog lifts in the dawn of a Newport Beach day. Kobe Bryant used to get up at 4 AM to shoot more baskets knowing that practice makes perfect and constantly placed himself striving for higher, vertical leaps and spectacular baskets on the hardwood court. Kobe even knew how to handle the hard knocks and setbacks in life as well. 

The funny but true story is that I used to teach martial arts out of my garage in San Juan Capistrano. One evening after class I told my two senior students that we are going on Friday to the show. They both responded with ear to ear grins and said what are we going to go see? I said I think we should go see that new movie. Joyfully they both responded! “Oh, that new movie the karate kid!” So off  we went to see Mr. Miyagi and Daniel Son. Then 35 years later, Detailing in Newport Beach once again I discovered some golf shoes next to some golf clubs in the back of a Lexus SUV.  Clumps of grass and soil filled the cleats and spilled over onto the freshly vacuumed hatchback carpet. That is when I was inspired as never before to not only clean the shoes but clean out the golf shoe bag they came in in the middle of my detailed wash. Ever since then the upscale car washes that I now do with many who are golf ⛳️ customers also includes a little shoeshine action.
